Vanilla Ice

It is a crappy song but I still kind of like it.  You know the song “Ice, Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice.  It is a catchy ditty.  Ding, ding, ding, da, da, ding, ding.

The Ice Armageddon finally hit OK on this fine day.  Thankfully, it wasn’t near what the media had predicted.  It was actually a Vanilla Ice storm.  Pretty basic.  Thank goodness, there is no wind.  We’ve got about a 1/4″ of ice on everything.  The ground temps and air temps are just warm enough that it isn’t a hard freeze.  I didn’t have to break ice on tanks tonight.  The only problem that I had doing chores was dealing with ice on gate latches and chains.  No big problem.  We aren’t going to get a pile of moisture but we’ll take what we can get.

Duke and I called our favorite neighbor to see if he needed anything.  We made sure that he was stocked up on Pepsi.  He allowed that he doesn’t go to town very often, but he would drive to OKC in an ice storm if he ran out of Pepsi or dipping tobacco.  He then proceeded to tell us that the dentist told him that he needed to lay off the Pepsi, coffe and chew.  He said that he told that dentist, “Listen.  I had to give up sex, drugs, alcohol, bull riding and fist fighting.  I dang sure ain’t giving up my Pepsi, coffe or dip.”  Of course, this is the edited version of this story.  Duke absolutely loves the fist fighting part.

It’s been mentioned on here numerous times, but the Kelln Klan has the best set of neighbors.  They help watch over stuff, let Duke hunt on their land, feed animals, lock up chickens for Tammy, etc.  Duke even lets his dog Ammo sire a litter of pups at one of the neighbors.  There is a current litter of pups out of Ammo and Addie ( a tri-color) corgi.  Us Kelln’s provide the comedic relief.  All of the neighors love to see what we have screwed up now.

There have been numerous goat shows in the past 11 months, but the time is nearing for the 2 that really matter–San Antonio and OYE.  No other shows compare with the overall depth of quality from class to class.  Duke doesn’t have the one to win, but he has several nice wethers.  He is still working them like he has a chance. That is the most important part of a show project–teaching work ethic.  Duke isn’t perfect, but he does have a strong work ethic.

I hope you all stay warm and keep the stock comfy.
