Thoughts from Kelln

Every Saturday is Busy

Posted on October 08, 2016

The kids have a booth at the Red Barn Craft Show in Shattuck on this fine Saturday.  We’ll sell some of their creations and take orders for more.  Signs, benches, horseshoe art, disc cutouts, spray paint art, etc. etc.   There might even be some decorative gourds and fresh eggs available.   Then, it is back to Tulsa.  Finish on Sunday.

Happy Thoughts

Posted on October 07, 2016

First of all, the Tulsa market show is over.  I am happy.  One, because I only have to go back to Tulsa one more time.  Two, I ate at Tally’s two times this week.  I would bet that I hit breakfast there on Sunday AM.  I am really happy with Lexi Vanderwork and her showmanship skills.  Without a doubt, I would take her and give you the field as to who the BEST wether showman

T Time

Posted on October 03, 2016

Busy weekend.  We managed to dodge another rain shower.  It is dry here in paradise.  Now, it is time to head to Tulsa for the Tulsa State Fair. I am already looking forward to this week being over.  We aren’t taking much to Tulsa.  Duke is staying home.  I wish that we could reverse the roles–he go to Tulsa and I stay home. I’ll actually spend more time in the sheep and cattle

Here it is.  Saturday night and I am having to deal with somebody elses goat deal.  A really good family is driving 90 miles, one way, to bring me a wether that has the start of a kidney stone.  No vets are around on a Saturday night.  Plus, in all honesty, not many vets actually know how to properly unplug a stoned SHOW wether.  So, here they come.  I didn’t raise the wether, but I

With the recent passing of Gene Wilder, some of the stations have been showing “Young Frankenstein”.  I have always enjoyed this quirky movie.  Now, as I watch it, I catch all of the humor that I may not have paid attention to in years past.  Minor things such as Holy jeeminy…that is Gene Hackman as the blind dude.        I have always been a fan of Blazing Saddles.  Probably the

Lots of new breeders are looking for “that” buck.  The one to elevate their program.  This is all well and good, but….  But, you first have to have a base of genetics built into your doe herd.  Get those females similar in type and kind and most imortantly, similar in genetics.  Then, when you get “that” buck, it is more apt to have a large impact instead of just working on a doe or two.

I did not watch the debate last night.  I turned the channel to the debate and the Dragon Lady heard it.  I got yelled at.  Rightfully so.  No household should have that crap playing.  Even though I didn’t watch it live, I might have spent most of the AM hours watching the replays. I wish that I could sleep like a normal person.  Then, I found humour in the chive posts regarding this matchup of

State Fair of OK

Posted on September 25, 2016

Made it down to the great state fair of Oklahoma.  Didn’t spend much time on the midway judging Ms. Skank OK.  But, it looked like there was plenty of viable candidates.  We did show a couple of wethers.  But, we obviously did not take the right ones.   It happens.  Unlike other state fairs, this show is really just a big jackpot.  The top end is always really good.  Most years, the winners from this

Without a doubt, one of my all time favorite movie characters is Yoda.  Even non-Star Wars fans recognized Yoda.  I just drug my old, tired donkey in from the great state fair of OK and turned on the tube.  The Empire Strikes Back is on TNT.  Although I really like the CGI produced light saber wielding Yoda in the newer Star Wars movies, I prefer the old school muppet Yoda.

Here we go with another cop shooting, followed by violent protests.  This stuff just doesn’t make much sense to me.  We’ve got a backup quarterback still protesting the national anthem.  Common sense is such a rare commodity these days. I’m not racist.  Although, I do enjoy a good joke.  I would vote for any QUALIFIED person regardless of race, color, religion, sex or even if they were an ou fan.  It would not bother me
