Hail YES!

Posted on May 29, 2018

A year ago, on the Saturday evening of Memorial Day weekend, we got a little rain with softball sized hail.  This year on the monday night of Memorial Day weekend, we got an inch of rain and the ground was covered with pea size hail.  It didn’t damage much but it did destroy the garden plants and Tammy’s flower beds are shredded.  There is now water in the ponds.  The rain gauge only had an

Dang Good

Today was kind of a shit show in my world.  But it could always be worse.  At least we woke up to wet ground.  There is now a chance to grow some hay and summer grazing.  Of course, we will need another rain or three. Yes, Duke is still alive.  No, he was not smarter today.  No, I won’t trade him.  The poor kid is caught in quicksand and he needs to quit struggling.  His

We’ve raised one kid.  And, at times, I wonder if I/he/we will survive this next one.  He’s not a bad kid.  He’s a good kid that has his head buried in his ass.  It is so deep that he doesn’t know how to fix it.  I’m sick of paying deductibles, gas bills and stuff not getting done right.  And no, I have not used the word dang very much lately. I have been reminded of

I hate eating tomatoes.  I have hated eating tomatoes my WHOLE life.  Ask my parents.  Better yet, ask my brothers that grew up listening to the ordeals involved with making me eat raw tomatoes.  I hate them.  But, I am fine with tomatoes being used in foods as long as they aren’t chunky pieces. I love a good salsa–NOT chunky, and I dang sure don’t want a tomato taste.  I want it to taste like

Selling—High vs. Cheap

We had an ag ed teacher and a student visit here this evening.  They needed a doe kid or two.  When, I say that we had an ag ed teacher here, I can argue that we had one of the best ag ed teachers that I have ever known. He had a student that needed a doe kid on a budget.  He actually needed 2 on a budget.  It’s all good.  I could have priced

The ending credits of the Deadpool movie are kind of different and fun to watch.  Wildly inappropriate but fun.  Of course, that entire movie is inappropriate and fun to watch. It really burns my butt that a 2nd time doe can’t have kids on her own.  She had triples the first time (2 large ones and a wittle bitty one).  But no, this time around, one of them gets its head backward and plugs up

People’s evidence #1–the Dragon Lady and I are getting old.  Proof–We decided to get up and make the 3 hour drive to Stillwater this AM.  And we were early for OSU graduation, which started 9 am. People’s evidence #2–the Dragon Lady and I are getting old.  We came home–the same day.  We went There and back!  Oh, we went and ate lunch, then went to a plant nursery. Then came home.  OFFICIALLY OLD! We got

Discount Dollar Days

Posted on May 11, 2018

The school year is at the end.  In fact, today was the last day of school.  The greenhouse still has plants.  The kids have told me that I am not allowed to take advantage of the early-order-discounts AND the volume order discounts.  DANG!  We had a lot of plants and we SOLD a lot of plants.  Our little greenhouse was packed.  Therefore, it has been discount dollar days for most of this week and especially

Yes, I went on my quick adventure.  Yes, I did it in one day.  No, I didn’t do it alone. I loaded up and headed south.  Swung by Mutual, OK and picked up Brandon THE Bruce.  He likes to travel and he needed some stuff picked up that wasn’t far from my destination (within 150 miles…close?  sure).  We pulled into Jacksboro, TX about 11:20 am.  We were going to hit the Dairyland before lunch run.
