\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 I spent this morning loading small square bales of alfalfa hay.\u00a0 Really high quality stuff.\u00a0 As I was stacking hay on the trailer, a neighbor pulled into the field with a New Holland stack wagon and began loading and stacking bales.\u00a0 And thanks to a Bob May podcast, all I could think about was, “What in the hell is a harrow bed?”\u00a0 Other than Bob, I have never heard these machines called a harrow bed.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0If you are in the midwest and having to pay more than $10 or 12 dollars a bale for small squares of alfalfa, you are paying too much.\u00a0 Unless you only need a handful, then it really doesn’t matter what it costs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0So I kept a buck this spring out of the Pickup Man AI deal.\u00a0 He had a really good Executive mother.\u00a0 I won’t say he was the best one but he was dang sure the trendiest one of the bunch.\u00a0 Extremely hairy, excellent bone, chunky and square made.\u00a0 I called him Camouflage Lingerie.\u00a0 I like that name.\u00a0 This one was really good.\u00a0 And I can prove it without a picture or a video.\u00a0 Here we go.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 I let Carl Mize come get him to breed for some fall kids.\u00a0 And then Pullan got him.\u00a0 Pullan called one Sunday morning, “Uhhh.\u00a0 Somethings wrong this buck.\u00a0 I was filling a water tank and watching him screw a doe.\u00a0 He nutted and fell off.\u00a0 \u00a0And well, he hasn’t got back up.”\u00a0 Let’s just add this to the list of stuff in the goat industry that I have never heard of before.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The vet got there, temped him and it wasn’t good.\u00a0 They took him into the vet clinic and his body temp had dropped more.\u00a0 His systems were shutting down.\u00a0 Some kind of brain aneurysm.\u00a0 Of course he died.\u00a0 He obviously had to be damn good since he died early.\u00a0 The common bastards live forever.\u00a0 I told you that I could prove it.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Carl got his does blood tested and none of them settled.\u00a0 Pullan tested the 5 that had been covered.\u00a0 4 of the 5 were bred.\u00a0 Including the one that the buck made his last ride on.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
