{"id":4658,"date":"2021-12-29T03:29:02","date_gmt":"2021-12-29T03:29:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/?p=4658"},"modified":"2021-12-29T03:29:02","modified_gmt":"2021-12-29T03:29:02","slug":"flashbacks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/flashbacks\/","title":{"rendered":"Flashbacks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 This time of year causes me to have flashbacks.\u00a0 It is the time of year for the Arizona National Livestock Show.\u00a0 By far, my favorite stock show.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Fun.\u00a0 Lots of fun showing, spending time with kids, eating, fun with friends, fun.\u00a0 It isn&#8217;t the drive there or worse, the drive home, that I enjoy.\u00a0 Simply, I&#8217;ve had a lot of fun in Phoenix over the years.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t cancel my rooms till the week before Christmas.\u00a0 But, none of my people entered.\u00a0 So, I haven&#8217;t been since 2019.\u00a0 TWO YEARS!!<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Food&#8211;When traveling, I like to eat at new and excellent places.\u00a0 My Mother&#8217;s in Phoenix is an all-favorite.\u00a0 The HUGE turkey pot pie is life altering.\u00a0 The loaves of bread.\u00a0 Oh, gastric paradise.\u00a0 LoLo&#8217;s chicken is a dining treat.\u00a0 La Pinata &amp; Carolina&#8217;s are mouth watering.\u00a0 Excuse me, I just drooled on the keyboard.\u00a0 However, Ag teacher Extraordinaire, Mr. CL McGill is currently in Phoenix and has been sending me dining updates&#8211;old faves and even a new one.\u00a0 \u00a0 And yes, there is a Pappadeaux&#8217;s in Phoenix.\u00a0 I love that place.\u00a0 I&#8217;m getting the sweats just thinking about all of the fun nights dining at Pappadeaux&#8217;s in Phoenix.\u00a0 Birthday parties, banner celebrations &amp; drowning some sorrows in crawfish etouffee.\u00a0 I love those kind of flashbacks.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Chilean&#8211;Tonight, I am sitting at home alone, watching a Law &amp; Order rerun.\u00a0 Tammy is in Houston with her mother.\u00a0 Prayers for continued healing. This L&amp;O episode deals with Chilean official.\u00a0 Chilean being the keyword.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Flashback&#8211;In 2014, I reserved a room at Pappadeaux&#8217;s.\u00a0 Yes, it was a victory party as Bree Taylor had the grand wether and all of our showman made the premium sale.\u00a0 But, this huge table of friends was what made this dining experience.\u00a0 The highlight was Brandon THE Bruce trying, let me emphasize trying, to order the Chilean sea bass.\u00a0 First off, Brandon doesn&#8217;t eat much food that swims.\u00a0 But he was going to give it a go and try the Shillying, Chili sea bass, the shelloneanon sea bass, Shill-I-Ann and finally he just pointed at the menu.\u00a0 The kids and I had so much fun with Brandon over this.\u00a0 And him being the great dude, he just rolled with it, ate it, admitted it wasn&#8217;t bad and still laughs with us over it.\u00a0 Oh&#8211;the flashbacks of how young those kids were and now&#8211;well, now, they are getting grown up and successful.\u00a0 Great kids!<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Cool flashback about that Phoenix trip.\u00a0 Bree&#8217;s grand goat SIFTED at the Lone Star Elite Jackpot just 6 weeks earlier.\u00a0 SAME judge!\u00a0 Shouldn&#8217;t have sifted.\u00a0 Shouldn&#8217;t have won grand at the LSEJ but dang sure shouldn&#8217;t have sifted.\u00a0 I&#8217;m just saying that the LSEJ judge was NOT on his A game that day in San Angelo.\u00a0 I left Angelo that day, drove north at a high rate of speed, thinking to myself, &#8220;There is NO way that he can EFF up two shows in a row.\u00a0 Oh well.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s go show and have fun.&#8221;\u00a0 I was right&#8211;both times.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And speaking of flashbacks&#8211;wether a decade ago or like Van Halen&#8211;RIGHT NOW&#8211;Brandon THE Bruce still makes the best damn chex mix EVER!\u00a0 \u00a0EVER!!!\u00a0 Wether it is a Tabasco or a Sriracha flavor&#8212;wicked awesome!\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Other flashback&#8217;s from the tripS to Phoenix include: blizzards near Flagstaff, frozen fog in Ruidoso; Kela, Cody Ott, Travis Stroble &amp; I listening to the Boise St.\/UofO game on the radio as we drove south to avoid a blizzard (can&#8217;t wait to watch espn when we get home); Brady Thomas &amp; crew experiencing New Year&#8217;s Eve in Tempe after an OSU bowl win; my dad, brother Jake and friend\/Uncle Ronnie watching Duke (11 years old) rolling a set of scales out of the barns and we then loaded them into our trailer.\u00a0 My dad, &#8220;Duke, what are you doing with those scales?&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Duke, &#8220;They&#8217;re mine.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Dad, &#8220;You stealing them?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Duke, &#8220;Nope, won em.&#8221;\u00a0 I then had to explain to Dad that the grand barrow got the scales.\u00a0 Duke is still that dry today.
