\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0No, I’m not talking about a classic car from the online auction.\u00a0 And NO, I didn’t get the Cadillac limo bought either.\u00a0 I had the bid during extended bidding.\u00a0 But this sale was closing during class.\u00a0 A student asked me a question and I lost my focus.\u00a0 I turned back to check the bidding and it was CLOSED!!!\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Meanwhile in a different class period, I was trying to teach a class of 8th grade girls how to use gestures while speaking.\u00a0 I told them that gestures need to emphasize while still looking natural.\u00a0 Not robotic and don’t look like you are moving to the beat of some crappy song like the ‘Macarena’.\u00a0 A couple of them looked at me odd.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0I said, “I’m sorry.\u00a0 That song is way before you all’s time.\u00a0 You don’t have a clue what I’m talking about.”<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0One of them said, “Uhhh, you mean the dance that goes like this?”\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0At this point, eleven 8th grade girls were now doing the Macarena.\u00a0 No music playing, they were just humming and dancing.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0In 1996, I had served as a senior class sponsor for a senior trip that went to Peurto Vallarta.\u00a0 There was this damn song that played the whole time we were there.\u00a0 I was glad to leave Mexico and that song behind.\u00a0 On the plane ride home, I made the comment, “I’m glad to be going home so I don’t have to hear that song again.”\u00a0 A month or so later, the ‘Macarena’ had found it’s way to America.\u00a0 And then it was everywhere.\u00a0 Still is.\u00a0 If a group of 14 year olds in Shattuck, OK know this song and dance in 2021, I guess it is a timeless classic.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Think of some other timeless classics.\u00a0 They were hits yet they weren’t very good.\u00a0 Sometimes you hear them and they transport you back in time.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 For me, 1985 had some really crappy songs that I will still listen to when they come on the 80’s on 8 xm channel.\u00a0 ‘Rock Me Amadeus’ by Falco and ‘I wanna be a cowboy’ by some damn band that I would have to look up.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 1990 brought us ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ by Billy Ray Cyrus.\u00a0 Which he in turn gifted us with Miley Cyrus that brought us another generation of crappy songs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Older you say.\u00a0 Okay.\u00a0 How about ‘Afternoon Delight’ by THE Starland Vocal band.\u00a0 And ‘Kung Fu Fighting’ by Carl Lawerence.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Newer.\u00a0 ‘Baby Got Back’ by Sir Mix-A-Lot and THE timeless classic of ‘Ice, Ice Baby’ by Vanilla Ice.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

And NO matter the age of the person, all of us know ‘Y.M.C.A.’ by the Village People.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Have fun reminiscing some crappy tunes by below average artists that we all remember.\u00a0 And maybe think back to that random showman and animal that NOBODY expected to win a show, yet they did.\u00a0 What’s the saying?\u00a0 Even the sun shines on a dog’s ass on some days.\u00a0 Regardless of industry, the sun shines somewhere.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
