\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0These are just a few of the firsts that I have done since I turned fifty.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Bifocals–I now have my first pair of bifocal glasses.\u00a0 And I will be honest, they are kicking my ass.\u00a0 This is going to take some getting used to.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Airline tickets–Seriously, I had never made my own airline reservations.\u00a0 Ever.\u00a0 Last Monday, I realized that I could squeeze a trip in and went to dealing with the internet travel services.\u00a0 I did not enjoy it but it worked.\u00a0 I respect the wife, co-workers, friends and secretaries that have done this crap for me in the past.\u00a0 I would way rather have somebody else deal with it and I just show up.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Plantar Fasciitis–Something started hurting like a MOFO in my right foot.\u00a0 Not fun.\u00a0 It was my left hoof that I screwed up a couple of years ago.\u00a0 This was a different kind of pain in the bottom of my right hoof and not fun.\u00a0 Now, I am learning to do different stretches with that foot.\u00a0 No matter the species, a hurt hoof is a problem.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Aleve–(see Plantar Fasciitis)\u00a0 I had never taken an aleve before today.\u00a0 Although, I knew a kid that got a sheep kicked out of a state fair because they had used Aleve instead of aspirin.\u00a0 Drug tests for “naproxen”!\u00a0 Who knew?\u00a0 The state fair didn’t know nor anybody else.\u00a0 At least they were decent to deal with over that deal.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Car rentals–I had never actually done a car rental until I was fifty.\u00a0 I had been a part of car rentals but had not actually done it.\u00a0 Now, I have spent $37 to rent a Chevy Malibu or something similar.\u00a0 PLUS $20 for insurance.\u00a0 This seemed cheap to me at the time of rental.\u00a0 Now, I will always spend more to get a bigger vehicle.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Prostate exam–YEP!!\u00a0 You read that right.\u00a0 Not just a blood test but also the “digital” exam.\u00a0 As in another person’s “digit” is inserted and checks the prostate.\u00a0 While sitting in the exam room, I noticed a box of kleenex on the table.\u00a0 And on the corner shelf, the only items were rubber gloves and a tube of lube.\u00a0 Nothing else was in the room.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 According to the Doc, 1 of 6 males will have prostate cancer.\u00a0 But the odds change if you have an immediate family member that has had it (uncle, brother, dad, grandad)\u00a0 \u00a0Yep, my grandpa Kelln had prostate cancer.\u00a0 Now, the odds are 1 in 3.\u00a0 Guess what that means?\u00a0 This is now an annual event for me.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Was it bad?\u00a0 No.\u00a0 I actually scheduled an appointment for next Wednesday and the Wednesday after that.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0NOO!!!\u00a0 \u00a0That was a bad joke.\u00a0 It was not as bad as I anticipated.\u00a0 Although, it was like an OB vet clinic visit.\u00a0 They use a lot of lube.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0And in true livestock evaluation form, I was judging the doctor’s fingers before this “digital” exam transpired.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
