\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Duke is currently at home.\u00a0 Good.\u00a0 Maybe I can get some work out of him.\u00a0 While here, he fired up a movie on netflix.\u00a0 Not a new movie but dang sure a good one.\u00a0 Dances With Wolves.\u00a0 I came in near the start and couldn’t hardly walk away from it.\u00a0 Such a good flix.\u00a0 I can still remember watching this in the $1 movie theater in Stillwater, OK….by myself.\u00a0 I loved it.\u00a0 My buddies were like, “Dude!\u00a0 I’d have gone.”\u00a0 Some female friends were like “Who did you go with?\u00a0 What’s her name?\u00a0 Why are you trying to hide?”\u00a0 Seriously, I had a $1 and went and watched a badass movie.\u00a0 That’s it.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0After watching Dances With Wolves, I was taken back 3 decades and I still have the same thoughts.\u00a0 Great movie!\u00a0 \u00a0And why in the hell did they use that bad legged Palomino?\u00a0 Ten bears rode it in one scene, another younger tribal member rode it in another scene.\u00a0 So much good horse-flesh in that movie and they feature that unsound equine creature.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Recently made a trip or 3 looking at stock.\u00a0 A week or so ago, I ventured to Perry, OK to see a set of goats from IL.\u00a0 Bid on several, bought one.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Then, made a venture into Texas.\u00a0 Went to Tucker’s.\u00a0 Not the 7T7 Tucker’s but Lynn & Kelly Tucker.\u00a0 The home of Pickup Man and another pair of badass bucks.\u00a0 CLEANEST goat place that I’ve ever been!\u00a0 Seriously!\u00a0 I shit you not.\u00a0 There were very few goat turds in the pens.\u00a0 And when the hired hand got done sweeping the pens…no turds!\u00a0 I am not shitting you!\u00a0 \u00a0The pens were swept with a broom and dust pan then bagged.\u00a0 I’m thinking about moving into one of their barns.\u00a0 This crew is assembling some females to go with their bucks and the facilities.\u00a0 It should be fun.\u00a0 Great stop and I am looking forward to going back.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0After that, we stopped by S&K Livestock.\u00a0 Way more female goats than I was expecting.\u00a0 I knew that they had several promotable bucks but I’ll be honest….I wasn’t expecting the badass doe herd.\u00a0 Really nice set of mature females.\u00a0 I love visiting with real livestock people.\u00a0 And this crew is just working to make a $, help showmen and improve their herd.\u00a0 I love it.\u00a0 They aren’t spending a pile of cash to jump forward.\u00a0 Just real people working, reinvesting profits back into their herd and constantly working to move forward.\u00a0 Thoroughly enjoyed talking to Alex & Ben.\u00a0 I like a stop that I can see good stock and I can learn a thing or two.\u00a0 Although, I will be honest, when I asked Alex how Snake Farm got his name, after that, I was constantly looking for snakes.\u00a0 Good stop.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The next weekend found me traveling to Brownwood, TX to pickup sheep and watch numerous sheep sales.\u00a0 LOTS of sheep changing hands in the parking lots, online sale viewing and live sales.\u00a0 We bought some nice sheep off the trailers.\u00a0 They also had a cajun boil going on.\u00a0 Clayton Washmon and I are ALWAYS down to eat some crustaceans.\u00a0 Then I walked through the sale barns.\u00a0 Wait?\u00a0 Goats?\u00a0 \u00a0Reagan Thurman brought a bad female-dog of a doe kid.\u00a0 No steal there as she brought $10K+.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Now, it is at this point in the writing that I have a fork in the road.\u00a0 Should I step away from the keyboard.\u00a0 Probably, definitely yes but you all know me.\u00a0 I do NOT care who I piss off.\u00a0 From Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon, I personally witnessed the BAD and the UGLY of selling livestock and I also witnessed the GOOD!\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Friday afternoon, I watched a set of NAME brand wether goats being unloaded into their pens.\u00a0 Oh hey, let’s take a look.\u00a0 They set the wethers onto the bed of wood chips.\u00a0 One of the goats didn’t act right.\u00a0 He picked up his left hind foot and then his right hind foot.\u00a0 Repeat.\u00a0 Repeat.\u00a0 Repeat.\u00a0 This little wether was in pain.\u00a0 No doubt.\u00a0 I’m sitting there looking at this goat, thinking to myself, “Why would these dumb bastards do this to a sale goat?”\u00a0 \u00a0As I’m sitting there thinking and looking, a couple of Yankee sheep breeders walk up, look and exclaim, “My GOD, somebody just got done popping the ass on that little goat!”\u00a0 When the sheep people are calling you out, it ain’t right!\u00a0 Pick three initials as to who the seller was.\u00a0 You people can keep spending money with them.\u00a0 I’m out.\u00a0 I don’t care how blessed you are.\u00a0 It’s bad and it’s ugly!\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0However on Sunday.\u00a0 I had to pickup several ice chests of goat bologna for Tyke.\u00a0 So, I met the Kester’s at Milligan’s piece of Perrydise.\u00a0 They were photoing online sale goats.\u00a0 The Irick’s were also there for Payton’s first online sale presentation.\u00a0 Tommy & Hayden were working to get spot-on pics and videos of Payton’s goats.\u00a0 Braden is the best ever at setting goats up for pics and he was on point.\u00a0 Tom & Kerensa were coaching mom & daughter as to how to help and what to do.\u00a0 There was a whole village there to help this young goat breeder get her goat offering presented properly.\u00a0 THIS is how it is supposed to be done!\u00a0 No deceit.\u00a0 No needles.\u00a0 No photoshopping.\u00a0 No politics.\u00a0 Just a crew of goat industry people helping a young kid with her projects.\u00a0 These goats will be offered and sold.\u00a0 There will probably be a bargain but there are several really good wethers and a cool doe kid.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Oh… By The Way… I will be bidding on a couple of Payton’s wethers.\u00a0 They actually have a chance compared to those over-priced, counterfeit deals I saw south of the Red River.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
