{"id":4132,"date":"2021-02-05T03:41:48","date_gmt":"2021-02-05T03:41:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/?p=4132"},"modified":"2021-02-05T04:18:25","modified_gmt":"2021-02-05T04:18:25","slug":"volunteers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/volunteers\/","title":{"rendered":"Volunteers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We all take stuff for granted. \u00a0But there are some volunteers that are simply more important than others. \u00a0I could rank a list but I won&#8217;t. \u00a0There is only one on this list and that # 1 is Volunteer Fire Departments and the people that volunteer.<\/p>\n<p>No, I have never been a volunteer fireman. \u00a0I should but I have always worked in other towns or been on the road too much to count on. \u00a0I&#8217;ve got some brother-in-laws that serve their time to help. \u00a0But, no, I have not.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteer fire fighters are an integral part of Rural America. \u00a0They come a running to help their neighbor. \u00a0Always. \u00a0And for what? \u00a0 A little bit of retirement. \u00a0And not enough insurance to cover their funeral if the worst happens. \u00a0But, yet, they still do the job. \u00a0This is truly what made America&#8211;some people that willingly face danger in order to protect others and with no reward for their efforts. \u00a0These volunteers may be the last bastion of true Americans&#8211;no politics, just take care of the job, your neighbors, your community&#8211;with little or no reward. \u00a0That&#8217;s how everything should be.<\/p>\n<p>Friday, in Waynoka, there are two funeral services for two fallen volunteer fire fighters. \u00a0No, I did not teach either of them. \u00a0One was a few years older than my time there and the other a few years a younger. \u00a0Yes, I knew them both. \u00a0And I know a lot of their families. \u00a0Good, good people. \u00a0Exactly the kind that you would expect to be volunteer fire fighters. \u00a0Hard working, self-less, community-oriented and yeah, they knew a good time.<\/p>\n<p>Prayers for the families and friends. \u00a0Please pray for all volunteer fire fighters as they do their un-paid jobs.<\/p>\n<p>You can keep all these over-paid athletes, actors and musicians. \u00a0I&#8217;ll stick with the military personnel and the fire fighters.<\/p>\n<p>In closing, I haven&#8217;t got any thing else to say except, &#8220;THANK YOU!&#8221; \u00a0To all of you. \u00a0For all that you do.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On a funnier note, listen to the Jerry Clower story of Uncle Versey and his family \u00a0saving the day by putting a fire out. \u00a0If you already know the story, you are smiling. \u00a0If you don&#8217;t know, well, you should.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GOD bless! \u00a0 Home sweet home, wherever that may be.<\/p>\n<p>Turn it up!!!!!!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We all take stuff for granted. \u00a0But there are some volunteers that are simply more important than others. \u00a0I could rank a list but I won&#8217;t. \u00a0There is only one on this list and that # 1 is Volunteer Fire Departments and the people that volunteer.
