{"id":4111,"date":"2021-02-01T01:24:08","date_gmt":"2021-02-01T01:24:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/?p=4111"},"modified":"2021-02-01T01:43:17","modified_gmt":"2021-02-01T01:43:17","slug":"marathon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/marathon\/","title":{"rendered":"Marathon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the effort of trying to do this goat herd dispersal while being in a very busy time of year at my job, I told the super clipper Blaine Rue to get his donkey to the greater Fargo area.\u00a0 I needed to get the Feb\/March bucks clipped &amp; photoed.\u00a0 But, I also wanted to get the April &amp; June bucks ready.\u00a0 And I really needed to get all of the ag kids projects clipped and ready for the upcoming county show.<\/p>\n<p>Friday night was fun.\u00a0 Blaine started clipping at the ag farm.\u00a0 I went home to put out hay, fill feeders, feed cows, doctor calves, fix electric fence AND deliver baby goats.\u00a0 \u00a0Wait.\u00a0 What?\u00a0 They aren&#8217;t due until Feb. 3.\u00a0 Triplets but all alive.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday morning was when the marathon really started.\u00a0 \u00a0 I had the Spillman twins and Clayton Washmon lined up and ready to work.\u00a0 And work they did.\u00a0 The Spillman&#8217;s washed and dried.\u00a0 I guarantee that these bucks have the cleanest, shiniest nut sacks.\u00a0 These boys will work.\u00a0 Clayton helped wash, dry and move bucks.\u00a0 Blaine clipped.\u00a0 I was all over the place.\u00a0 Clayton and I set bucks up.\u00a0 Blaine ran the camera.\u00a0 One set done just after 1 pm.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s do the next set.\u00a0 We got them done before we lost light.\u00a0 This crew worked well.\u00a0 But, I will be honest.\u00a0 I like having Duke around when clipping bucks.\u00a0 He can wash, clip, setup, run the camera&#8211;all of it.\u00a0 I&#8217;m pretty sure that he didn&#8217;t miss being here.\u00a0 I&#8217;m also real sure that he is getting paid more where he is at.<\/p>\n<p>Then we headed to Woodward to clip more projects.\u00a0 Sunday morning found us clipping more projects.<\/p>\n<p>12 yearling bucks washed, clipped and photoed in one day and 17 show projects thrown in on either end.\u00a0 We used the Henry Ford assembly line technique and kept them rolling.\u00a0 Unload, wash, dry, clip and on to the next one.\u00a0 I can tell you that this pace of work is actually cheaper as it kept Blaine out of the beer.\u00a0 And he was ready for bed when we were done.<\/p>\n<p>We are all still laughing about one of the twins talking about getting brake cleaner on his wiener and how bad it burnt!<\/p>\n<p>It was a marathon weekend and I am sore but I had fun.
