{"id":4078,"date":"2021-01-18T02:16:55","date_gmt":"2021-01-18T02:16:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/?p=4078"},"modified":"2021-01-18T02:41:06","modified_gmt":"2021-01-18T02:41:06","slug":"get-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/get-away\/","title":{"rendered":"Get away"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I needed to get away. \u00a0Tammy and I have not done anything except take care of kids, animals and our jobs for over a year. \u00a0Phoenix is normally my vacation. \u00a0Not this year. \u00a0We did something cool. \u00a0We loaded up with some friends on Thursday morning and made our way to the Hill Country of Texas. \u00a0Tom and Nancy Lamle along with the Dragon Lady and myself&#8211;no livestock, no students, no FFA stuff. \u00a0A destination in mind, yet no time table. \u00a0It was wicked fun! \u00a0And as a bonus, Kade &amp; Jessica Lamle met up with us.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, we made it to Llano for some Cooper&#8217;s BBQ. \u00a0It did not disappoint but it was not the best food that we ate. \u00a0The reuben sandwich at the Auslander in Fredericksburg ranks up there with the best. \u00a0Some smoked turkey &amp; brisket from San Marcos BBQ was really tender and juicy. \u00a0But the andouille sausage, grilled shrimp with red beans &amp; rice at Pappadeaux&#8217;s in San Antonio was euphoric.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday evening, we watched a chick play the ukulele (try spelling that). \u00a0She was good, funny and some of her songs were a bit uncouth. \u00a0The beverages were really cold.<\/p>\n<p>We went to see a Guinness world record holder. \u00a0The world&#8217;s largest convenience store&#8211;Buc-ee&#8217;s in New Braunfels. \u00a0This was a well-timed stop as I needed to unload after all of the cajun cuisine. \u00a0Without a doubt, the cleanest restrooms for a chain company is Buc-ee&#8217;s. \u00a0Cubicles built out of brick, multiple rolls of paper, spotless clean and they even have signs\/lights that tell you if the stall is occupied or not. \u00a0No more looking under the door or accidentally walking in on a fellow human as they are hunkered down on the porcelain. \u00a0These toilets are built to tear that toilet up and not have to worry about the person in the next stall snickering. \u00a0And guess what? \u00a0This New Braunfels Buc-ee&#8217;s holds the title for cleanest bathroom in America. \u00a0Look it up! \u00a0And I used it.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of Buc-ee&#8217;s. \u00a0I have been to several of them before but I had never sampled one of their cookies. \u00a0On the way home today, I tried an oatmeal raisin cookie. \u00a0Oh snap!! \u00a0They are even better than the Subway oatmeal raisin cookie.<\/p>\n<p>As always, Fredericksburg was a phenomenal place to just chill and have fun. \u00a0I didn&#8217;t do much goat related but I did buy a couple of items tied to a billy goat. \u00a0I also bought a really bad-ass hat! \u00a0I mean a top-shelf kind of hat. \u00a0Epic.<\/p>\n<p>I did have some fun with the sales lady in a store in Fredericksburg. \u00a0I asked her if she like the spicy pickled quail eggs that they sold.<\/p>\n<p>The nice lady said, &#8220;Yes, I do. \u00a0I really do\u2026but\u2026.well\u2026..I mean\u2026..they just, well, kind of bloat me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I looked her square in the eye and said, &#8220;The farts from those things are absolutely horrible aren&#8217;t they?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She laughed and said, &#8220;I was trying to be polite! \u00a0But yes, they are so good and yet they will smell SOOOOO bad!&#8221; \u00a0 Yeah, I bought a jar. \u00a0Tammy &amp; Nancy banned me from opening them until I was home.<\/p>\n<p>And then, we got back to 3 miles south of Fargo. \u00a0And the welfare recipient beasts that we call doe goats went to bellowing as soon as they saw me. \u00a0At this point, I wanted to find an ice pick and stab myself in the crotch. \u00a0I cannot wait to be rid of doe goats.<\/p>\n<p>The only down side was that Texas is all about the mask mandates. \u00a0Yet, we drove through San Antonio, Austin, Waco, Ft.
