{"id":4011,"date":"2020-12-04T04:08:54","date_gmt":"2020-12-04T04:08:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/?p=4011"},"modified":"2020-12-04T04:20:59","modified_gmt":"2020-12-04T04:20:59","slug":"survey-says-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/survey-says-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Survey Says&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve written on here before about filling out surveys.\u00a0 Well, I still recommend filling those things out.\u00a0 Over the years, I&#8217;ve gotten John Deere toys, John Deere caps, free oil changes from the auto dealer, hotel bonus points and other obscure crap.<\/p>\n<p>A couple of months ago, I filled out a written survey for some Texas Tech student doing graduate work.\u00a0 The survey was a butt load of questions about ag-ed\/FFA in our school.\u00a0 It probably took me 5 minutes to fill out.\u00a0 I put it in the postage paid envelope and mailed it back.\u00a0 Done.<\/p>\n<p>This week, I received a letter that explained the survey.\u00a0 They weren&#8217;t just surveying ag teachers, they were also surveying responses online versus mail.\u00a0 AND if survey response rates increased by being offered $2.\u00a0 What?\u00a0 Wait?\u00a0 $2?<\/p>\n<p>I did the mail in deal for free.\u00a0 Who gives a rat&#8217;s ass about $2?\u00a0 Obviously a higher percentage of people.\u00a0 The letter showed that Survey return rates were higher for the ones that were offered $2.\u00a0 Mail-in vs. online results were similar.<\/p>\n<p>To keep all things equal, since I did the survey for free, they sent me (and others) a $2 bill in the mail for the effort.\u00a0 Cool!\u00a0 It&#8217;s been a year or two since I saw a $2 bill in circulation.<\/p>\n<p>Several decades ago, I judged a county hog show.\u00a0 It was a bad-ass show.\u00a0 Lots of OKC premium sale pigs in the show.\u00a0 At the end of the show, the county agent asked me if I was fine with a cash payment for judging.\u00a0 &#8220;Sure.&#8221;\u00a0 He then handed me the damndest roll of $2 bills.\u00a0 I forget the actual story but it was something along the lines that between the county commissioners and the fairboard, nobody trusted anybody to sign a check, so they did everything in $2 bills.\u00a0 Whatever works.<\/p>\n<p>It was fun to open a letter with a $2 bill.\u00a0 At least it wasn&#8217;t a $3 bill.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve never seen one but&#8230;..I guess they are different.<\/p>\n<p>At 8:53 am, I finished up this mornings&#8217; ass-kicking.\u00a0 My ass was the one donated for the kicking.\u00a0 Snow &amp; then winds made some drifts.\u00a0 I had to first thaw out the intake line for our tankless water-heater.\u00a0 Then, I had to dig pathways through drifts for doe goats to get to feed\/hay and water.\u00a0 Then deal with a bull that doesn&#8217;t care what the weather is doing, he was out and didn&#8217;t want to go back in.<\/p>\n<p>Survey says&#8230;.I should have had a dispersal earlier in the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve written on here before about filling out surveys.\u00a0 Well, I still recommend filling those things out.\u00a0 Over the years, I&#8217;ve gotten John Deere toys, John Deere caps, free oil changes from the auto dealer, hotel bonus points and other obscure crap.
