{"id":3371,"date":"2020-01-22T04:16:53","date_gmt":"2020-01-22T04:16:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/?p=3371"},"modified":"2020-01-22T04:17:06","modified_gmt":"2020-01-22T04:17:06","slug":"contests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/contests\/","title":{"rendered":"Contests"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To preface this post, Shattuck FFA hosted a jr. cde contest in Woodward today. \u00a0A jr. cde contest is open to 8th, 9th &amp; 10th graders to compete in various career development events such as meats, ag mech, food science, floriculture, etc. \u00a0This contest is designed to be an introductory event to allow younger FFA members an opportunity to compete in various events and find one that best suits them. \u00a0Going forward, they can choose to bear down and prepare for the full contests and compete against all age groups.<\/p>\n<p>Some people that kind of know me think that I am all about the win, the banner or the trophy. \u00a0Those that truly know me understand that if they are giving a prize, then by all means, prepare to win that damn thing. \u00a0But, I truly do not give a rat&#8217;s ass about another plaque or banner. \u00a0I LOVE the journey to get there.<\/p>\n<p>There were over 300 kids from 14 different FFA chapters, which arise from 5 counties in NW OK. \u00a0I read off the winners for 13 different CDE areas. \u00a0I loved it when I called a Shattuck kid that had worked had to prepare. \u00a0I REALLY got amped when a student that had worked hard, but wasn&#8217;t expecting to win, got their name called.<\/p>\n<p>But being the addict that I am, I took great pleasure watching as the other kids from any given school cheered for a kid that got his\/her name called. \u00a0I noticed a particularly strong cheering section from a chapter for a 3rd high individual. \u00a0He kind of ducked his head as he came to get his medal. \u00a0But, you could tell that he was stoked. \u00a0Later, I watched the ag teacher interact with his group of kids, and in particular, that young man that gathered a medal. \u00a0I listened to positive reinforcement &amp; some friendly jabs and comments about work paying off. \u00a0There was a group of 20+ kids from that chapter. \u00a0They had done really well in a division but they rallied around that one kid and the ag teacher.<\/p>\n<p>And since some of these contests give out banners, scholarships and plaques, the Shattuck kids MAY have to listen to me about what they did right and\/or wrong. \u00a0The one thing that you can count on, I won&#8217;t show favorites. \u00a0They all have an equal chance at me pointing out what they did wrong and they all have a chance at a high five. \u00a0HOWEVER, as I was unloading stuff today, I got to witness my co-teacher in a teachable moment as she was lining out some meatheads that didn&#8217;t perform as well as they should have. \u00a0Teachable moments. \u00a0I love it!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To preface this post, Shattuck FFA hosted a jr. cde contest in Woodward today. \u00a0A jr. cde contest is open to 8th, 9th &amp; 10th graders to compete in various career development events such as meats, ag mech, food science, floriculture, etc. \u00a0This contest is designed to be an introductory [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3371"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=3371"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3371\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":3372,"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3371\/revisions\/3372"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=3371"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=3371"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=3371"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
