I couldn’t sleep this morning. \u00a02:30 am and wide awake. \u00a0This led me to clicking on book face. \u00a0I saw some post about Kalahari red goats. \u00a0I’ve hear of em before. \u00a0Knew just a bit about their background and have seen a few in Texas. \u00a0I googled a couple of websites and read one with a lot of info about the Kalahari red goat. \u00a0The contact name on the site was\u00a0Tollie Jordaan. \u00a0I hadn’t heard that name in over a decade.<\/p>\n
A decade plus ago, while flipping rocks all over the state of Texas, we ended up at Paul Payne’s. \u00a0There was a \u00a0South African at his place—Tollie Jordaan. \u00a0The discussion didn’t take long before it became apparent that the original South African boer goats and the wether goat industry were getting ready to head completely separate directions. \u00a0They did.<\/p>\n
Now, there is a place for the purebred Boer goat and their breed standards. \u00a0 And there is a place for wether-type goats. \u00a0Both have their positives and both have separate & yet some of the same negatives.<\/p>\n
At 3 am, a movie was starting. \u00a0I had seen pieces of it before, but never the whole thing. \u00a0I watched it and it may very well be Will Ferrell’s worst movie. \u00a0Semi-Pro. \u00a0It was so stupid, yet I watched the whole thing.<\/p>\n
We’re still breeding a few does here and there. \u00a0Mainly, a couple of young ones that happened to be cycling and I opened the gate.<\/p>\n
