Anybody that knows me quickly realizes that my life is a book best written with musical notes. \u00a0I can read music but I can’t write it. \u00a0No matter what, when or where, I know a good tune as soon as I hear it. \u00a0Pop, rock, country,rap… whatever the genre, I like good tunes.<\/p>\n
My life calendar is made up of wicked tunes and when I hear those songs today, I am immediately taken back to that time in my life.<\/p>\n
“Rock you like a hurricane” by the Scorpions. \u00a0Monkey wrench song that reminds me of the night that I finally realized that it was time to get married.<\/p>\n
“Amarillo by Morning” always brings me back to a funeral of a good dude back in 1993. \u00a0He loved that song. \u00a0I still do.<\/p>\n
“Thunderstruck” by AC\/DC will forever more take me to a happy place that involves OYE. \u00a0But, as much as I like that song, it does not define OYE grand drives for me. \u00a0I’ve had the honor of heading down the ramp numerous times, each time with a different song playing in my ear. \u00a0In 2012, it was Sinatra’s “My Way”.<\/p>\n
In 2013, \u00a0well, things were good, but not good enough. \u00a0I know what I was listening to when the judge gave his reasons for div. 3 champ. \u00a0Then he picked the other one. \u00a0What? Wait? \u00a0The placings did not fit the reasons. \u00a0Oh well. \u00a0At least the champ\u00a0went on to be\u00a0grand and was sired by one of my bucks. \u00a0That res. div. 3 was probably the best goat that we have ever shown. \u00a0Of all of the shows that I have been a part of, that one is the only one that I watch the video of the grand drive and think “WTF??!!” \u00a0I don’t listen to that song no more. \u00a0When we headed down the ramp that night, we had 4 of the 8 in the grand drive. \u00a0Halie Schovanec ended up reserve grand. \u00a0Good show\u2026should have been better. \u00a0That song from the division drive has been erased from my bank. \u00a0Done.<\/p>\n
Now, I try to listen to current music. \u00a0I like it. \u00a0Some of it I really like. \u00a0But none of it hits me right in the tuning forks to remind me of times and places. \u00a0I like the Zac Brown band, Cody Jinks, Chris Stapleton and Luke Combs. \u00a0Good music that I would like to see live. \u00a0But, none of them have that song that reminds me of a time and place. \u00a0Which is why AC\/DC, Def Leppard, Metallica, GnR, CCR, George, Cash, Skynyrd, Waylon, Garth \u00a0& Elvis are still so popular with today’s youth. \u00a0They all have songs that move you.<\/p>\n
To wrap it up. \u00a0I don’t have an ending to this deal. \u00a0I’m still kind of pissed about 2013 OYE and I like great tunes. \u00a0That’s all I’ve got. \u00a0I deleted a line or three before I hit publish. \u00a0At least I’m honest about it.<\/p>\n
Oh, there are other shows that still burn my ass. \u00a0“Hands up and back away from the keyboard! \u00a0Do as I say. \u00a0NOW!!!”<\/p>\n
