{"id":2871,"date":"2019-04-16T02:32:02","date_gmt":"2019-04-16T02:32:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/?p=2871"},"modified":"2019-04-16T03:30:16","modified_gmt":"2019-04-16T03:30:16","slug":"correction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/correction\/","title":{"rendered":"Correction?!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Is there a correction in the marketplace? \u00a0Personally, I think that we had already seen the correction and my buck sale is proof. \u00a0Wait? \u00a0What? \u00a0When?<\/p>\n<p>Look at the wether sales the past year and this current year. \u00a0There has been quite a high percentage of wethers selling for $7,500 and up. \u00a0And then there is a bunch at the $2,000 and down. \u00a0There is not many selling for 2-7K. \u00a0There is a STRONG market for the high dollars and then no middle ground.<\/p>\n<p>Bucks are the same. \u00a0If you have the right genetics and buzz, there are several looking to spend whatever is needed on a buck. \u00a0Myself included. \u00a0But, all stars have to be aligned. \u00a0Now, look at the number of bucks being traded online during last week and this week. \u00a0I used to enjoy a consolidated market. \u00a0In fact, I was about the only one offering breeding age bucks. \u00a0Now, there are other options. \u00a0Good and bad.<\/p>\n<p>The lot 1 buck I sold looks just like his picture and handles wicked. \u00a0I love the lot 2 buck. \u00a0I shouldn&#8217;t have let him go, but when you only have 15 does left around the place\u2026.DUDE! \u00a0 You can&#8217;t keep them all.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been watching numerous bull sales. \u00a0The right ones, with the right pedigree are bringing unlimited amounts of $s. \u00a0But, the market drops off after that. \u00a0A $5,000 bull will probably breed 50 cows per year. \u00a0Let&#8217;s be real, most bucks are NOT breeding but 20-30 does per year.<\/p>\n<p>I know what costs that I have in these bucks&#8211;feed, clipping, photoing, commission, etc. \u00a0There are also opportunity costs for what I could have sold them as younger goats. \u00a0Some of these made money. \u00a0The better ones probably lost money. \u00a0But their new owners will be happy with the outcome.<\/p>\n<p>There will be bucks sell higher. \u00a0I&#8217;m fine with it. \u00a0It is what it is. \u00a0There are many people that have been leasing bucks that should have been buying tonight. \u00a0Then again, it ain&#8217;t much fun to own a buck.<\/p>\n<p>I have had an excellent experience selling yearling bucks over the past 5 years. \u00a0I did not understand the market then and I still don&#8217;t understand it. \u00a0What I do know\u2026a cool, fuzzy young one with a good pic will always sell well.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you to all that bid and bought. \u00a0We truly appreciate it. \u00a0I haven&#8217;t seen a sale report but I am excited to see what bucks went where. \u00a0In the end, there are some people that got some really good buys. \u00a0And I will probably get to meet up with Bob May somewhere and eat some Mexican food and hear some stories. \u00a0It&#8217;s all good.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you to all.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Is there a correction in the marketplace? \u00a0Personally, I think that we had already seen the correction and my buck sale is proof. \u00a0Wait? \u00a0What? \u00a0When?
