Known fact that I spend more than my share of time behind the wheel of a pickup. \u00a0I don’t venture as far as I used to, but the miles are still covered. \u00a0Which means that the radio is on. \u00a0And with crappy cell service in this part of the world, I have time to think.<\/p>\n
For example, while listening to the blue collar comedy tour, I got to thinking\u2026one of these don’t fit!?!<\/p>\n
Let’s look at the cast. \u00a0Jeff Foxworthy—arguably the greatest comedian ever. \u00a0Timeless, anybody can listen to him. \u00a0Larry the Cable Guy–one of the most popular comedians, ever. \u00a0Lots of bathroom jokes. \u00a0I like him. \u00a0 Ron White–now, not everybody likes Ron White. \u00a0But, real comedians say that he is the funniest. \u00a0Sure, he isn’t always clean, but funny to the max.<\/p>\n
And then there is Bill Engvall. \u00a0 I’m not saying that he is bad. \u00a0Actually, he has some really good stuff. \u00a0But he doesn’t quite measure up to the other three. \u00a0Popular, yes. \u00a0Funny–very funny part of the time. \u00a0I’m not bashing him. \u00a0But, he doesn’t quite fit with the rest of them.<\/p>\n
Then there is a super-group of artists. \u00a0The Highwaymen. \u00a0 Waylon, Willie, Johnny Cash and\u2026and\u2026.Kris Kristofferson. \u00a0One of my all-time favorite songs is the song of that name by that band. \u00a0I mean dang, listen to the song, there are 3 legendary bad ass singers and then one that is better than me. \u00a0But not so much better. \u00a0I think I could have sang that part and not hurt the song. \u00a0Listen to the song and it makes one think, “Hunh, he must have had some good drugs to share, so they keep him around.”<\/p>\n
Duke walked by as I was writing this dribble. \u00a0I asked him, “What do you think of Kris Kristofferson?”<\/p>\n
He said, “You and others have said that he must have some really good weed or something to be included in The Highwaymen and he kind of sounds like it.”<\/p>\n
Now, before you go to blowing my phone up. \u00a0I didn’t say he was bad. \u00a0I know that he played in the iconic movie “Convoy”. \u00a0(crappy move that I like, crappy song that I still think is cool) By the way, you can still buy a chrome rubber duck truck hood ornament online. \u00a0I know that he played in PROBABLY the best version of “A Star is Born”. \u00a0(no, I haven’t seen the new one.) \u00a0Kind of like Engvall, he’s good. \u00a0The others are better–at singing.<\/p>\n
If you do your research, one will quickly find that one doesn’t fit.<\/p>\n

Now for your random crap of the night. \u00a0Who sang the song “Convoy”?<\/p>\n
NOPE! \u00a0Not Kris Kristofferson.<\/p>\n
Oh, you say CW McCall. \u00a0Sure. \u00a0But his real name is Chip Davis. \u00a0And his “real” band is Mannheim Steamroller which is played A LOT during this and every holiday season. \u00a0In fact, that band is the #64 all time high selling artist(s) in the USA. \u00a0Willie is #56 and Johnny Cash is #96, what, wait, really? \u00a0Hunh? \u00a0Heck, they made a big time movie about him.<\/p>\n
Where’s Waylon? \u00a0Not in the top 100. \u00a0And he might be the best musician\/artist of all of them.<\/p>\n
Check out that top 100 all time certified music artists in the USA. \u00a0I can name a song from every one of the top 55 artists\u2026..except for two. \u00a0R. Kelly at #55. \u00a0I know who he is but I cannot name a song of his. \u00a0I know that he is a POS. \u00a0So are several others on the list, but they had good songs.<\/p>\n
The other that I cannot name a single song that they perform, however, I can name movies that she played in, but not one song. \u00a0 #12–Barbara Streisand. \u00a0But, she did play in that “Star is Born” movie.<\/p>\n
In review, what did we learn here tonight. \u00a0Engvall is funny. \u00a0But not Foxworthy funny. \u00a0Kristofferson has a bad-ass resume. \u00a0Convoy is still cool. \u00a0Willie is still “high” on the charts. \u00a0Cash is good. \u00a0Christmas tunes can rake some serious cash. \u00a0Waylon is my favorite of all of these. \u00a0Hollywood remakes too many movies. \u00a0And other than Saturday Night Live, that chick would not be relevant to me. \u00a0How does that one fit at #12 all time?<\/p>\n
