{"id":2548,"date":"2018-11-02T01:15:46","date_gmt":"2018-11-02T01:15:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/?p=2548"},"modified":"2018-11-02T03:13:59","modified_gmt":"2018-11-02T03:13:59","slug":"candy-corn-nickleback","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/candy-corn-nickleback\/","title":{"rendered":"Candy Corn &#038; Nickleback"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, I&#8217;ve heard several discussions on the radio, read a deal or three on the computer and heard some kids discussing whether candy corn was any good or not. \u00a0What?<\/p>\n<p>Candy corn has been made since the the late 1800s. \u00a0Over 125 years&#8211;you don&#8217;t make a product for that long and it not have some fans. \u00a0Some call it Chicken Feed. \u00a0Some people are just realizing that it looks like corn. \u00a0No crap? \u00a0Or to quote the late great Robin Williams, \u00a0&#8220;What the @u(k?&#8221; \u00a0\u00a0Thirty-five million pounds of this sugary treat is made &amp; sold each year. \u00a0A lot of somebodies like this stuff. \u00a0But, a lot of lists rank candy corn as the worst Halloween candy. \u00a0Hunh? \u00a0I would think that the apple with a razor blade or a snickers with a needle in it would rank as the worst candy. \u00a0I don&#8217;t know. \u00a0Just seems logical to me.<\/p>\n<p>The superintendent of Waynoka Public Schools that hired my dumbass back in 1996 was Dale Ross. \u00a0Obviously, Mr. Ross was a very intelligent person. \u00a0He was a great talent scout. \u00a0He always had a chicken feeder on his desk filled with candy corn. \u00a0Kids loved it and adults couldn&#8217;t keep from grabbing a kernel or four. \u00a0I am not a fan nor an opponent of candy corn. \u00a0I just don&#8217;t understand why some people are becoming so vocal against it.<\/p>\n<p>The candy corn debate reminds me of the band Nickleback. \u00a0I like several of their songs. \u00a0I really like one or two of their songs. \u00a0Rockstar is a wicked cool tune. \u00a0Judging from the facts that they have had #1 hits in the US of A and have sold millions of records, I am not alone. \u00a0But, several have taken it upon themselves to constantly bash this band. \u00a0Fine, I don&#8217;t care, I just don&#8217;t get the bashing.<\/p>\n<p>What in the name of all things goat does (does not does&#8211;plural) \u00a0candy corn and Nickleback have to do with anything? \u00a0Our society allows a few to whip up a lot of noise even though all facts point the other way. \u00a0Which brings us to November 6.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time ever, I voted by absentee ballot. \u00a0I know that my ballot may not get counted but I dang sure was not going to miss out on casting my votes&#8211;right or wrong&#8211;regardless of what the media or internet thinks that I should do. \u00a0As an American, I voted. \u00a0You should too.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t care if you like or dislike candy corn or Nickleback, get off your butt, vote and do NOT let a bunch of noise deter you. \u00a0VOTE.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, I&#8217;ve heard several discussions on the radio, read a deal or three on the computer and heard some kids discussing whether candy corn was any good or not. \u00a0What?
