{"id":2485,"date":"2018-09-25T02:00:32","date_gmt":"2018-09-25T02:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/?p=2485"},"modified":"2018-09-25T02:00:44","modified_gmt":"2018-09-25T02:00:44","slug":"the-worst","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/the-worst\/","title":{"rendered":"The Worst"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It has to be the worst. \u00a0I cannot imagine a worse stretch of highway. \u00a0There is not a worse major highway that I know of\u2026ANYWHERE! \u00a0This title has to belong to the Cimarron Turnpike. \u00a0And we get to PAY to drive on this POS. \u00a0It will knock the fillings right out of your teeth. \u00a0I would hate to be an animal riding in a trailer to the Tulsa State Fair while bouncing down this stretch of concrete and pavement.<\/p>\n<p>Today, I was coming west down this joyous stretch of modern engineering. \u00a0I was in my High Country pickup. \u00a0This is normally as smooth of a riding vehicle as you can find. \u00a0But not on the Cimarron Turnpike. \u00a0This pickup was hooked to a gooseneck 32&#8242; flat trailer with a dovetail and folding ramps. \u00a0Yes, a heavy trailer but it pulls good. \u00a0I was running the speed limit 75 mph (school trip, people following, etc. ) \u00a0 This road was kicking the crap out of us. \u00a0I hit a bump (a bit bigger than the previous 1,386 bumps over the past 12 miles). \u00a0This bump bounced the fold up ramps. \u00a0The next big bump caught us out of rhythm and bounced the trailer so hard that one of the fold up ramps unfolded. \u00a0It was now dragging. \u00a0I felt it and kind of saw it in the mirrors and stopped immediately to flip it back up.<\/p>\n<p>Basically, this rough stretch of a piece of crap highway is like a bad storm on a large body of water. \u00a0It is not the first wave that sinks boats. \u00a0It is the next one that you weren&#8217;t ready for. \u00a0It cost me over $20 in tolls for 3 pickups and trailers. \u00a0They ought to have to pay people to drive on this thing. \u00a0If it was an actual business, it would be out of business.<\/p>\n<p>Although it will add a lot of time to the trip, I think that I will probably take a different route to Tulsa.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the day, I drove on the Turner Turnpike from OKC to Tulsa. \u00a0This cost me about $30 bucks but other than the road construction, it was a pleasant drive. \u00a0I did ask the lady in the toll booth if she ever worked over on the Cimarron. \u00a0She said, &#8220;No&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>I then asked, &#8220;What about that road?&#8221; \u00a0She said &#8220;That deal is almost too rough to drive on.&#8221; \u00a0You dang skippy.<\/p>\n<p>I realize that roads are expensive to build. \u00a0But that turd of a road generates a lot of $s. \u00a0Something needs to be done.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s to hoping that your day was smoother than a ride on the Cimarron Turnpike. \u00a0Which basically means that you could have knocked a tooth out with a hammer, stabbed yourself in the eye with an icepick, bruised a spleen and had your best doe lose babies at birth and you would have still had a smoother day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It has to be the worst. \u00a0I cannot imagine a worse stretch of highway. \u00a0There is not a worse major highway that I know of\u2026ANYWHERE! \u00a0This title has to belong to the Cimarron Turnpike. \u00a0And we get to PAY to drive on this POS. \u00a0It will knock the fillings right [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2485"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=2485"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2485\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":2486,"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2485\/revisions\/2486"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2485"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=2485"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=2485"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
