{"id":2327,"date":"2018-06-23T13:16:50","date_gmt":"2018-06-23T13:16:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/?p=2327"},"modified":"2018-06-23T13:17:02","modified_gmt":"2018-06-23T13:17:02","slug":"rain-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/rain-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Rain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Got some! \u00a0Rain that is. \u00a0.5&#8243; on Wednesday, then .4&#8243; Friday morning and then a full inch during Friday night to Saturday morning. \u00a0What does that mean?<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve got a chance to make some hay. \u00a0Tammy will have some lawn mowing to do. \u00a0There are feed troughs to be cleaned out. \u00a0And\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>Rule of thumb for trimming hooves on goats. \u00a0Wait for a rain. \u00a0This one worked out real well. \u00a0That first rain on Wednesday worked to start softening hooves then another Friday morning. \u00a0That meant by Friday evening, Duke was catching bucks and I was trimming hooves. \u00a0Even if it doesn&#8217;t fit your schedule, one must make time to take advantage of soft hooves, especially on bucks. \u00a0This can make a 5 minute job per goat instead of a 15-30 minute job on dry, hard as stone hooves. \u00a0No sore hands or wrists, minimal back strain and almost no cuss words. \u00a0Wait, what? \u00a0Duke, goat hooves, myself and no cussing? \u00a0Yep, soft hooves makes it that easy of a job.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s to green pastures and fields, soft hooves and one more thing off of the to-do list. \u00a0Have a good one.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Got some! \u00a0Rain that is. \u00a0.5&#8243; on Wednesday, then .4&#8243; Friday morning and then a full inch during Friday night to Saturday morning. \u00a0What does that mean?
