{"id":2289,"date":"2018-06-01T23:56:58","date_gmt":"2018-06-01T23:56:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/?p=2289"},"modified":"2018-06-01T23:57:10","modified_gmt":"2018-06-01T23:57:10","slug":"pretty-close","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/pretty-close\/","title":{"rendered":"Pretty Close"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When I started taking pictures on Thursday, I wasn&#8217;t planning on a complete dispersal but we got pretty close. \u00a0We photoed 36 lots plus the 2 bonus lots&#8211;makes 38 mature females. \u00a0The following is a list of does at my place that weren&#8217;t photoed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212; 2 does that I am working on to prevent toxemia.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;2 does of Sweet&#8217;s<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;1 doe that belongs to a student<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;1 doe that belongs to Milligan<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;1 doe with babies that I just don&#8217;t really want to sell.<\/p>\n<p>That makes 45 does. \u00a0We normally keep around 50 breeding females. \u00a0I had one die in Feb. after SLBK syndrome (single large buck kid). \u00a0One that had week old babies on her and she just decided to quit living. \u00a0And one that croaked a week before her due date. \u00a0I would say that is a typical percentage when dealing with female goats.<\/p>\n<p>I remember when Tammy and I used to stress about a sick one or a dead one. \u00a0Now, we just expect it and go with it. \u00a0I have had some question my motives and why the quick decision? \u00a0Trust me, this has been years in the making. \u00a0Milligan has listened to me as I have stood on the ledge for months and months. \u00a0But then\u2026..<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve got no story for you. \u00a0Tammy doesn&#8217;t like doing chores with the goats. \u00a0Duke hates doing chores involving any type of doe goat. \u00a0It is a well documented fact that if I could make wethers and bucks without does, I would. \u00a0Tammy loves dealing with her mini herfs. \u00a0Duke takes pride in his cow herd. \u00a0So, we will be in a better mood with just a few does.<\/p>\n<p>I would rather help other people with their stock. \u00a0I enjoy the bucks and the wethers. \u00a0I absolutely love marketing goats and talking to people about my goats, their goats and what we all need and want. \u00a0I am really proud at the repeat customers that we have had. \u00a0We have had some customers for over a decade. \u00a0It is amazing how many friends and acquaintances that we have made as a result of this dumb ass blog. \u00a0Who&#8217;d a thunk it? \u00a0Of course, I might have made an enemy or two. \u00a0No problem, I was right. \u00a0Still am.<\/p>\n<p>There is a couple of pens of yearlings. \u00a0Maybe a dozen or so critters combined. \u00a0I&#8217;m fine with that because some of them are really good and some of them are really stacked with productive genetics. \u00a0I can have fun with that. \u00a0WTH?
