{"id":2060,"date":"2018-02-11T03:34:03","date_gmt":"2018-02-11T03:34:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/?p=2060"},"modified":"2018-02-11T03:36:25","modified_gmt":"2018-02-11T03:36:25","slug":"warm-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/warm-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Warm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The weather is not. \u00a0It is cold, real cold 12 F \u00a0with a north wind that hits about 25 mph. \u00a0I don&#8217;t know the wind chill, nor care. \u00a0All I know is that it is not fun. \u00a0Had a couple of calves born yesterday, I hope their ears are okay.<\/p>\n<p>The wethers got worked and the kidding barn is ready. \u00a0Time to go back to work. \u00a0Looked at a fun set of wethers today. \u00a0When somebody calls and says they want to bring wethers on a day like this, there is only one thing to say, &#8220;Come on, the heater is on.&#8221; \u00a0It was fun seeing showman that have been working to get better. \u00a0It was also fun to see the &#8220;Holy Shit!&#8221; \u00a0trailer.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t move fast right now, but I am still going. \u00a0Stayed hooked all day. \u00a0The stock has drank and has full bellies. \u00a0I would bet that from 7 am to 7 pm that they were warmer than I was.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I am inside. \u00a0It took a bit to warm up but the Dragon Lady cooked a dang good warm meal. \u00a0Pork loin, mac &amp; cheese, ranch beans with Texas toast and honey. \u00a0Lots of carbs to warm a soul.<\/p>\n<p>And to further the warming process, I took a bath. \u00a0Yes, a bath. \u00a0I like a dang hot bath. \u00a0It warms one from the toes to the nose. \u00a0I even got the Mrs. to put some kind of oils &amp; epsom salts in it that makes your skin feel like it fits. \u00a0I don&#8217;t like it when it itches, is dry and feels too tight. \u00a0I guess this oil is like putting Russ&#8217; Rag Oil and kleen sheen into a calf&#8217;s hair. \u00a0It moisturizes the skin and somehow the hair is still clean.<\/p>\n<p>I know that I might catch some hell for taking a bath but I like being in water. \u00a0I guess it goes back to my younger days. \u00a0Dad taught each of us boys to swim the same way. \u00a0He would jump into the deep end of the pool while holding one of us onto his shoulders. \u00a0He would warn us to hold our breaths until we got back to the top. \u00a0Then, he would jump in and wouldn&#8217;t let go until he touched the bottom. \u00a0Then, panic stricken, we would swim like hell to the top. \u00a0It worked as all of us boys can swim and hold our breath for quite a bit. \u00a0I don&#8217;t swim like a dolphin. \u00a0More like a penguin. \u00a0It isn&#8217;t uncommon for my crew to go get a motel room for a night, just so Duke and I can swim during the winter months. \u00a0If it wasn&#8217;t so much upkeep, we would have a pool. \u00a0Cheers and have you a DEW. \u00a0Not a mountain dew. \u00a0I don&#8217;t think that this stuff came from a mountain unless Tullamore is a mountain. \u00a0I&#8217;m guessing it is probably more like a hill. \u00a0But it is smooth. \u00a0Once again, you can blame my father.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The weather is not. \u00a0It is cold, real cold 12 F \u00a0with a north wind that hits about 25 mph. \u00a0I don&#8217;t know the wind chill, nor care. \u00a0All I know is that it is not fun. \u00a0Had a couple of calves born yesterday, I hope their ears are okay.
