I hadn’t been near the keyboard for over a week. \u00a0Been at Tulsa for part of that week. \u00a0Getting ready to go back again. \u00a0We didn’t show much stock this time. \u00a0In Shattuck, with fast-pitch softball and football, these kids have enough going on this time of year. \u00a0We will be ready to show later.<\/p>\n
Speaking of softball, Shattuck is playing in the state finals this afternoon. \u00a0They are facing off against Arnett. \u00a0Two towns, 15 miles apart, playing for the gold. \u00a0Two big-time stock show girls will be the starting pitchers.<\/p>\n
No, Duke did not show at Tulsa. \u00a0He has a pair that needed to go but he didn’t want to go. \u00a0He already won an ag mechanics plaque for the 2017 Tulsa State Fair. \u00a0He allowed that he didn’t need another one. \u00a0He wouldn’t have won the goat show but he would have been competitive. \u00a0I was told by Julie Focht that Duke told her that he doesn’t like shows that have a midway. \u00a0I asked him about this. \u00a0Too many people was his reply.<\/p>\n
I had a pair of brothers enter the broiler show. \u00a0We used to fight this show and won it several times but it had been years since I had dealt with it. \u00a0These boys wanted to try it. \u00a0They ended up showing all the way into the finals. \u00a0Their pens of 3 placed 15th and 16th. \u00a0Not bad.<\/p>\n
It is kind of cool to watch the broiler show. \u00a0People help each other. \u00a0There is some “trash talking” all in fun. \u00a0No politics. \u00a0No money. \u00a0No whining. \u00a0Just the distinct possibility of getting some chicken crap on you. \u00a0This show is all about proper feed and care and maybe just a bit of luck.<\/p>\n
Huge congrats to the Schovanec family on the donkey kicking of a doe show. \u00a0They won 4 classes and showed the grand doe. \u00a0Heck of an end to Halie’s career. \u00a0Oh, and Carson also showed the reserve Duroc barrow.<\/p>\n
This spring, Duke sold his wether Gentleman Red in our Broke2Show online wether sale. Mia McCool bought him. \u00a0She did a fantastic job working and showing this wether. \u00a0It paid off for her as Gentleman Red made the premium sale at Tulsa. \u00a0Not many goats qualify for OYE and Tulsa premium sales.<\/p>\n
