So, I tell the Dragon Lady that I trapped her nemesis. \u00a0I also told her the locations of my strategically placed final resting places for unwanted rodents. \u00a0When I got home this evening (6ish), she informed me that she had ran the lines, checked traps and there were no more dead mice.<\/p>\n
Fast forward to 9 pm. \u00a0I’m in the kitchen, she is walking through the office towards the back porch.<\/p>\n
I ask, “Were there any more dead rodents?”<\/p>\n
Her reply, \u00a0“Hunh?!”<\/p>\n
I then ask again, in a louder tone (and I am not known as a quiet person), “Were there any more dead rodents?” \u00a0I asked loud enough that citizens of the greater Fargo city heard me.<\/p>\n
Her reply, (harshly) “Yes, in the fridge.”<\/p>\n
At this point in time, I realize that (1) she doesn’t actually listen to me and (2) we have been married over a quarter of a century. \u00a0So, I stack my bacon and egg sammich (lots and lots of bacon) and wait for her to walk by the door between the kitchen and the office. \u00a0Then I spring my trap.<\/p>\n
“Hey.”<\/p>\n
Her, “What?”<\/p>\n
Me, “I asked the same question TWICE. \u00a0You gave me two different answers.”<\/p>\n
Her, \u00a0“I did not.”<\/p>\n
Me–I repeated the question(s).<\/p>\n
At this point she laughed, shook her head and replied, “I thought you asked if there was anymore roast.” \u00a0She then laughed and walked off to finish laundry, whatever, I don’t know what she was doing.<\/p>\n
Me– I now stood there holding a plate that had a sandwich that Dagwood would be proud of. \u00a0I also had a blank stare as I stood there\u2026 wondering, blinking, thinking, \u00a0“We haven’t had a roast since July. \u00a0What in the hell is in the back of the fridge that she thinks is a roast?” \u00a0Some wicked Stephen King stories invaded my mind at this point.<\/p>\n

For all of you married people out there, I think that I will let this post end here.<\/p>\n
