{"id":1698,"date":"2017-08-18T11:37:32","date_gmt":"2017-08-18T11:37:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/?p=1698"},"modified":"2017-08-18T11:37:43","modified_gmt":"2017-08-18T11:37:43","slug":"sometimes-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/sometimes-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Sometimes&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes, the hardest part of writing on here is putting something in the title line.<\/p>\n<p>Spent some time walking through crops last evening. \u00a0Trying to see if the ground is firm enough for a swather to run across it. \u00a0It was getting close, but then it rained again this morning. \u00a0It is kind of a fun feeling walking through the vegetation in these fields. \u00a0Haygrazer, German millet, Teff grass, cowpeas, crabgrass, collard greens with the occasional okra plant mixed in. \u00a0Lots of green diversity.<\/p>\n<p>Duke and I spent some time cruising through the grass pastures identifying grasses. \u00a0Little bluestem, big blue, indian grass, switchgrass, blue grama, buffalo grass, side oats grama and some old world bluestem.<\/p>\n<p>I need to get a chisel in the ground in the doe pasture. \u00a0Those little hooves can cause some major compaction. \u00a0Right now, there is a fine line between being muddy and it getting hard.<\/p>\n<p>We had a python alert in Shattuck. \u00a0Somebody&#8217;s &#8220;pet&#8221; snake got loose and they couldn&#8217;t find it. \u00a0Everybody needs to worry about something like this. \u00a0I asked a member of the family that owned the snake how it got loose. \u00a0The reply was fitting, &#8220;I can&#8217;t help it if Dad got stoned and drunk.&#8221; \u00a0Sometimes, you just can&#8217;t make this kind of stuff up.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes, the hardest part of writing on here is putting something in the title line.
