{"id":1560,"date":"2017-05-20T02:59:55","date_gmt":"2017-05-20T02:59:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/?p=1560"},"modified":"2017-05-20T03:51:32","modified_gmt":"2017-05-20T03:51:32","slug":"pondering-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kellnlivestock.com\/site\/pondering-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Pondering"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>That would be me on this fine Friday evening. \u00a0Part of me would like to gripe about the amount of rain that we have had in the past 6 weeks, but I know better. \u00a0Although, I can hear Bob Seelke in the back of my mind&#8211;&#8220;I can buy all the dad gum hay that I need to raise goats. &#8221; \u00a0I agree that goats do NOT like all the moisture and do NOT look good when it is wet. \u00a0But, for every other aspect of life, I am happy with the rain.<\/p>\n<p>I did laugh at the text message &#8220;I should have used spell check when ordering my fidget spinner.&#8221; \u00a0Something about a brass pole and rhymes with fidget\u2026just \u2026. makes me laugh.<\/p>\n<p>The highest priced goats always seem to end up in Oklahoma. \u00a0Yet, people drive through Oklahoma to buy does and bucks in Texas. \u00a0Part of me finds this odd. \u00a0The other part goes, well hell, I went to Texas for my initial herd start up. \u00a0Goat shopping in Texas is like going to Wal Mart. \u00a0You can fill your cart. \u00a0You just have to do some driving.<\/p>\n<p>I sit here tonight pondering graduation. \u00a0Tammy and Duke went to Waynoka for High School graduation. \u00a0The girl that is graduating is the offspring of 2 of my former students. \u00a0That makes me old. \u00a0Which has left me to pondering other things. \u00a0I know that I am not immortal. \u00a0Nor, do I want to be. \u00a0I didn&#8217;t plan on making it to 40, yet here I am nearing 50. \u00a0I really thought that the Dragon Lady would have had enough of me by now to make me disappear.<\/p>\n<p>Which reminds me of a text from my brother-in-law. \u00a0His wife has reminded him that she would NEVER be a divorcee but was not opposed to being a widow. \u00a0I think\/know that the Dragon Lady subscribes to this same theory. \u00a0And by the way, that same brother-in-law is getting ready to graduate another honor student from high school. \u00a0Congrats to the Atha family for continued family excellence! \u00a0I guarantee that there is a proud Aunt Tammy. \u00a0I get to hear about it!<\/p>\n<p>And back to my pondering. \u00a0As I sit and look at the Barnthouse dispersal, it makes one think. \u00a0Dude, this could happen to any of us. \u00a0How do you get rid of everything?<\/p>\n<p>I have told Tammy, if something happens to me, call Tommy and Julie Milligan. \u00a0I try to remember to tell Tammy and Duke what partners there are regarding semen rights, etc. \u00a0Tell Tommy to take care of selling the goats. \u00a0You and Duke know how auctions work. \u00a0Sell the toys in one sale. \u00a0The equipment in another. \u00a0The goats need to be separate. \u00a0Pay for good help and get it done. \u00a0The Milligans know what they are doing. \u00a0There are other people that will want the commission, but they don&#8217;t know the business. \u00a0Some are good at selling sheep, others pigs, some cattle and others are just looking to find a place in the online business. \u00a0The Milligan&#8217;s have been in the online game longer than most and they know the goat business. \u00a0So, therefore, they need to sell my dispersal when it is time. \u00a0Tammy agrees but also says that she doesn&#8217;t want to talk about this kind of thing. \u00a0Kela says that Duke is in charge of burying me. \u00a0And Duke says, &#8220;Hunh. \u00a0Sure.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As I have been hit up by other online sales places to sell with them for less commission, I ponder &#8220;Why in the hell would I sell with them alive, if it&#8217;s not where I have told my family to sell when I&#8217;m gone.&#8221; \u00a0I buy goats, pigs, sheep, cattle and equipment online. \u00a0I am not a novice buyer or seller when it comes to online sales. \u00a0When I have to have a text from the selling breeder that their sale is tonight, then that online auction service is not earning their keep. \u00a0 Just pondering. \u00a0As with most of these blogs, I get to the end and ponder &#8220;How the hell did we end up here?
