I just overheard Duke tell his mother that our family just missed a national holiday. \u00a0She said, “Kelln males don’t care about Valentine’s Day.” \u00a0He replied, “Not that holiday. \u00a0Today was the last day of quail season and Dad and I were too busy to go.” \u00a0 \u00a0I guess both sides of that conversation were right.<\/p>\n
Speaking of big days. \u00a0Okie State wrestles Penn State on Sunday–1 vs. 2. \u00a0I don’t care if you like the sport or not, that’s cool when the big dogs can square off in a place like Gallagher-Iba. \u00a0Although it isn’t fun to watch, Gundy’s little video of him urging students to go to the match is cool.<\/p>\n
Got some pics from the Schovanec family. \u00a0TravASS and the two younger ones have been fishing. \u00a0Schoovy texted pics of caught fish and said “Tell Duke he needs to fish over east here”. \u00a0I was like WTH?! \u00a0To heck with Duke, I’m on my way if the fish are biting.<\/p>\n
We got some sunshine today and the late (Thanksgiving) planted wheat looks like it jumped out of the ground. \u00a0Ironically, the stuff planted the last weekend of August also looks like it jumped out of the ground (maybe not as high though). \u00a0There is enough triticale for the does to keep grazing for a bit. \u00a0We might even be able to make a bale or 3 come the month of May. \u00a0We’ll see. \u00a0At worst, Duke can turn some cows out onto it. \u00a0This agriculture business sure works better with a bit of moisture. \u00a0Sure, this paragraph about rain and sunshine fit right into the previous and following paragraphs. \u00a0(somebody teach this clown how to cut & paste and edit).<\/p>\n
If you can’t tell, there are things like fishing, hunting, fishing, watching Okie State sports, fishing, etc. \u00a0that I really like to do, but it is hard to make time. \u00a0Livestock, other people’s crap, my own crap, etc. get in the way. \u00a0My fault. \u00a0Nobody else’s. \u00a0But I thoroughly enjoy my time when I make time to do those kind of things.<\/p>\n
Hunting vs. fishing? \u00a0 Fishing. \u00a0Why? \u00a0You don’t know what is down there until you see it. \u00a0HUGE added bonus–You can release a fish back and not have a mess to clean up. \u00a0Hunting–once you shoot it, you got a job to clean it. \u00a0It’s all good and I love the hunt more than the rest.<\/p>\n
Kind of reminds me of showing livestock. \u00a0I love the hunt of looking for good stock. \u00a0I love trying to read genetics. \u00a0Trying to see\/feel what is there. \u00a0I love the work of trying to get them right, managing feed, etc. \u00a0But I do not enjoy the mess that some people can create at stock show time. \u00a0I really just want to find em, work em, look at em and turn them back out and say “Yeah, that one looks good.” \u00a0Or, “That deal didn’t feed out so well.” \u00a0I just enjoy looking at good stock–regardless of species. \u00a0I don’t enjoy all the extra-curricular activities that can cloud the real reason we do this. \u00a0Which, in case you forgot–is to improve livestock and more importantly use livestock to raise our kids.<\/p>\n
Huge CONGRATS to Addie Schneberger with her res. grand wether at the SW district show today. \u00a0No, I didn’t raise the goat. \u00a0 I’ve never ever seen the goat. \u00a0I hope the goat is good. \u00a0But the Kelln Klan are really big fans of Addie Schneberger. \u00a0This kid is way cool, works hard and is going to be really successful. \u00a0She is like her mom. \u00a0Thank GOD! \u00a0I consider her dad a friend and enjoy talking the business with him. \u00a0But, I really like the whole family unit. \u00a0Good people.<\/p>\n
Ironically, the song JukeBox Hero by Foreigner just came on. \u00a0Dude! \u00a0I like that song. \u00a0I like it a lot! \u00a0Ask Tyke. \u00a0He’s had to listen to that song at ear-splitting level numerous times. \u00a0I remember it being a big dang deal to plug a quarter in the jukebox and pick some songs. \u00a0Dang, you had to study the song list in order to make sure that you picked all great ones. \u00a0That last selection was of paramount importance as you did not want to pick a sub-par song.<\/p>\n
Hunh?! \u00a0 Kind of like dealing with livestock.<\/p>\n
