Weekend

Spent Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon looking at hogs.  A person can dang sure buy a good pig cheaper than what a good goat costs, but then it costs a pile to feed a pig, buy additives and wood chips.  Worse yet, you about need 5 or 6 pigs to make sure you have one good enough in the end.  In the end, it all evens out.  None of it is cheap.  But dang it sure is fun.

I don’t miss the days when I was teaching and had about a 100 head of barrows and gilts on feed.  I’m glad I don’t have to buy very many pigs.  It is such a short window of time when the pigs are ready to look at and it is hard to make it to all the farms and sales to look at them.  They have to be a certain size in order to work.  A goat can be whatever range or weight and it will work.
