I really didn’t expect to make it to this milestone. I didn’t plan on living this long, much less actually being married for 25 years. It is hard to believe that there is one woman that would stay married to me for 25 years. It hasn’t always been easy. It has been work at times. There has been a whole lot of give and take.
It has been hard to keep the kids in line, take care of all of the cleaning, washing and folding of clothes. It has been a chore to make sure that everybody is fed and that a high quality supper is ready. It has been hard to chase animals, kids and others around somebody else’s schedule.
I say it is hard, but I really don’t know since the Dragon Lady takes care of all of that. I didn’t marry for looks or money. Although, the looks was and is still a bonus. As our friend Kenneth Helms loves to remind me, “Kelln, you WAY out did yourself when you married her.” Or as our buddy Tom Lamle likes to say, “Damn, you out kicked your coverage!” Yes, yes I did.
I am not a big trophy counter but I like the two trophies that Tammy and I have. Although, the youngest trophy seems to test both parents a bit.
Congrats to all of those that can make it work. It ain’t easy, but it is worth it. Cheers to the Schneberger’s on their celebration of this same date.
Have a good one and a better tomorrow. I wouldn’t bet on me living another 25 years but I’ll stay married as long as I can.
